PROJECT 1

For Project 1, we are to create an infographic poster for one recipe selected from Pasta Grannies. The recipe I chose is Pallotte.

Firstly, I went to Pasta Grannies' website to look for the information they provide.

Then I collected references for me to be able to draw them accurately.

I struggled with the background for a long time. I originally wanted to use a solid color, but after trying it, I felt it looked a bit empty. So I tried adding various textures and finally decided to use a wood plank texture.

PROJECT 2
Exercise 3: Kinetic Typography

For this exercise, we were tasked as a group to create a lyric video using After Effects. Initially, we chose Viva La Vida, but at lecturer's suggestion, we changed it to the faster beat Killer Queen.

I enlarged the font to the point of exceeding the screen size, and then quickly shrunk it back to the center of the screen, creating the effect of the font rapidly hitting the screen. Then, I changed the background color several times to avoid it looking too monotonous. Different methods were used to switch background colors, including gradients, swipes, pulls, and shrinking, to avoid using the same transition effects as much as possible.

Exercise 4: Animation Chart

For this exercise, we required to create a motion graphic chart based on the chart given by the lecturer. The chart assigned to me was line graph.

Exercise 5: Vector Animation

 For this exercise, we required to create a vector animation based on the AI file given by the lecturer. The AI file assigned to me was D.

I first conceived the final effect I wanted to achieve, and then divided the parts that needed to be animated into different layers.

I scaled the figures from small to large, and then the plants and books came in from the side. The smiley faces and thumbs-up symbols are also arranged from small to large, and there's also a clock in the background that moves.

REFLECTION

Project 1 improved my layout skills, it was quite challenging and also very interesting for me. Besides that, I learned a lot from the exercises in Project 2. I found Kinetic Typography to be the most interesting part, and the final result was very satisfying.
